Ein Wort ist nicht nur ein Wort – hinter jedem Wort steckt auch eine Erkenntnis

Auf Kongressen, in der Fach- und auch in der Umgangsliteratur wird die Nomenklatur unseres Themengebietes Lymphologie oftmals nicht oder nicht richtig berücksichtigt. So kann es vorkommen, dass ein entsprechendes Wort sinngemäß genutzt wird, die Nutzung aber gleichzeitig zeigt, dass der Hintergrund und die Bedeutung nicht verstanden bzw. nicht berücksichtigt wurden.
Beispiele für häufig falsch verwendete Begriffe sind z.B. „Lymphkapillare“, „Fettverbrennung“, „Fettabsaugung“. Wir sollten dies vermeiden und uns bemühen, auf einen richtigen Gebrauch unseres Vokabulars zu achten.

Measuring our words – We need to stop our sloppy use of lymphology terminology
Summary
At conferences, as well as in the literature for both health professionals and patients, the lymphology nomenclature is often used inaccurately or is even completely ignored. As a result, the improper use of some specialized terms reveals the user’s failure to understand the context and/or meaning of the term. The terms “lymphatic capillary”, “lipid metabolism” and “liposuction” are very commonly misused, for example. We should endeavor to put an end to this practice and make an effort to use our specialized terminology correctly.
